In Milan, at the Via Senato 8 office, the curatorial concept was to develop the collection by arranging the spaces around a single focus: (multiplied art) the theme of the multiple.
MULTIPLI. A Journey Through Italian Art. From one floor to the next of the building, visitors follow a true itinerary through the multiples of many artists, with a significant space devoted to Carol Rama.
But what exactly is a multiplied work of art? First and foremost, it is not a copy of a previously conceived original, but a work genuinely designed from the outset not to be unique. In other words, it is a work of art conceived to exist in multiple copies. Each piece therefore forms part of a declared edition and bears both an edition number and the artist's signature. A publisher is normally involved in the project; otherwise it is considered (an artist's edition) a self-published edition . In every case, compared to a unique piece, the multiple allows artists to communicate their poetic universe to a greater number of people. By virtue of its multiplication, (the work is more accessible: it reaches more contexts, and speaks to the hearts of more individuals from even very different worlds). the work is more accessible: it reaches more contexts and speaks to the hearts of individuals from widely different worlds.
Building on the interest in the theme of the multiple developed in its Milan spaces, Jacobacci & Partners contributes to raising the profile of the multiple works of Italian artists who — like Carol Rama — have made an outstanding contribution to this field.
