Alessandra Bombace

Work experience

Alessandra worked as a patent attorney trainee, focusing on prior art searches and drafting patent applications in various fields, such as mechanical engineering, chemical engineering, materials science, and chemistry. Before that, she worked at a process development centre for lithographic applications in microelectronics and microfluidics and in the wastewater treatment sector, contributing to patent drafting. She then decided to pursue a career as a patent attorney. Previously, Alessandra completed an International PhD in Chemical Sciences at the University of Catania, working on imaging organic samples. Additionally, she participated in various exchange programs, including one at the Sorbonne University in Paris and another at the Joint Research Centre of the European Commission.

Professional focus

Alessandra is responsible for drafting and prosecuting Italian, European, and international patent applications, as well as evaluating and drafting responses to Examination Reports from EPO examiners. She also assists in preparing submissions for oppositions to clients' European patents.

Areas of expertise

Alessandra primarily works in various fields of chemistry, chemical engineering, and materials science, where she has gained particular experience in chemical plants, especially for the production of polymers and the processing of rubber and plastics, in new chemical processes and the improvement of existing processes, and in materials technology. Alessandra also has experience in the fields of pharmaceutical chemistry, medical uses, pharmaceutical preparations, waste recycling and wastewater treatment, and in plants and equipment for the packaging and textile industries.
