CAROL RAMA. Unique Multiples, curated by Elena Re, is an exhibition organised by MAMbo – Museo d’Arte Moderna di Bologna at its Villa delle Rose venue from 25 January to 30 March 2025, supported by Jacobacci & Partners through a cultural patronage project. Building on the interest in the theme of the multiple developed in our Milan spaces, we wish to contribute to raising the profile of the multiple works of Italian artists who — like Carol Rama — have made an outstanding contribution to this field.
Watch the exhibition video, accompanied by the words of Enrica Acuto Jacobacci and curator Elena Re, to explore the unique universe of Carol Rama.
The curatorial concept of the exhibition is to shine a light on the significant body of multiples produced by Carol Rama between 1993 and 2005 with Franco Masoero Edizioni d'Arte – Turin. In this intensely creative experience, by working with the multiple, the artist revisited all the great themes that make up her world, and the exhibition sets out to traverse those same territories. Carol's life and passions take centre stage. From room to room, figures, seductions, fetishes and idylls alternate and reconstruct a story. At the same time, these figures are the fruit of a powerful alchemy born from the encounter between technical mastery and poetic sensibility. From this engraved work there emerges a deep complicity with the publisher-printer, who gave the artist complete freedom for an unbridled expressiveness, free of all rules. And so: Unique Multiples — multiples that are unique. Multiples conceived by the artist with the same intensity as one-of-a-kind pieces. Multiplied art thus breaks free of every convention and becomes a testament to Carol Rama's infinite freedom.
