The validation of a European patent in Italy is not a complex task, but you have to pay attention to come steps to avoid unnecessary risks in the future. One of these tasks is undoubtedly the correct and comprehensible translation of the description and claims into the Italian language.

This can be done within three months of the date of grant of the European patent, but if the applicant gets too close to the deadline and does not have sufficient time to prepare a correct certified translation, he may choose to prepare an automatic translation of the application.

But beware: a full translation is still required in Italy and other European countries (including Spain), but not for those that have one of the official languages of the European Patent Office as their official language.
